Nearby Towns
If you feel like exploring, there are a number of small and charming towns nearby. Here are some of our favorite places to visit.
Pequot Lakes
Pequot Lakes is the closest town to Breezy Point. It’s about 4 miles west on County 11. Pequot and Breezy share are so close, in fact, that they share a school system and a fire department.
Pequot Lakes also has the closest full grocery store, with SuperValu.
When we go to Pequot, we love grabbing a burger at Lucky’s Tavern or a glass of wine (or coffee, depending on the time of day) at MN Traders.
Notable Events: Pequot Lakes has a great 4th of July parade as part of their Stars & Stripes Day event, but their most famous event is the unique celebration of Bean Hole Days.
Jenkins
Jenkins is another nearby town, about 7.5 miles away (and most of it is freeway). Jenkins is home to some of our favorite places in the area, including:
Nisswa
Nisswa is another nearby town, roughly 8 miles south from Breezy, conveniently located on 371. Nisswa is a popular tourist destination with several resorts, lots of boutique shops, and many great restaurant options. One of our favorites is Main Street Ale House.
We also enjoy Roundhouse Brewery, which has great beer, tasty food, and frequent live music. You can often catch us there playing trivia!

Notable Events: Nisswa is famous for their 4th of July parade and their weekly turtle races during the summer.
Pine River
Continue north on 371 after Jenkins, and you’ll find the town of Pine River. Pine River has a bowling alley, a bakery, and a Tractor Supply (which comes in surprisingly handy at times). Pine River is roughly 13 miles from Breezy Point.
Crosslake
Crosslake is northeast of Pelican Lake. It’s worth the short drive to take in the amazing views. If you have a boat, you don’t want to miss the Whitefish chain of lakes. Head out for a day on the lakes, and be sure to stop by our favorite boat-up restaurant: The Wharf.
Notable Events: Crosslake is famous for their St Patrick’s Day celebration.
Merrifield
Merrifield is about 10 miles south of Breezy, to the east of Nisswa. We like to go there for the convenient Paul Bunyan trail entrance. We are also fans of the restaurant b.merri in Merrifield.
What is the closest big city?
While we wouldn’t exactly call it a “big city,” Brainerd/Baxter is the principal city and anchor in the Brainerd Lakes micropolitan area. You will find the usual big box stores, chain restaurants, and franchises here. Some examples include:
