Breezy Point, located in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, is a charming and picturesque small town within the beautiful Brainerd Lakes Area.
Known for its lake country vibes and vibrant resort community, Breezy Point offers residents and visitors a tranquil escape surrounded by the serene Pelican Lake. History
Breezy Point owes its origins to millionaire publicist Wilford Fawcett, who acquired the land in 1921 and established a resort bearing the same name. Fawcett, the owner of Fawcett Publications and creator of the famous Whiz Bang magazine, developed the area into a thriving resort community. Fawcett House, his personal residence, is now available for public rentals. The village was officially incorporated as Pelican Lakes in 1939 but later renamed Breezy Point in 1969.
Geography
Spanning over 16.56 square miles (42.89 km2), Breezy Point boasts a mix of land and water, with 13.20 square miles (34.19 km2) of land and 3.36 square miles (8.70 km2) of water. County Roads 4, 11, and 39 are the primary routes connecting Breezy Point to neighboring areas. The city’s most prominent feature is its prime location along the shores of Pelican Lake, offering residents and visitors a wealth of recreational activities and stunning natural beauty.
Population
As of the 2010 census, Breezy Point had a population of 2,346. The city has experienced steady growth, with a 9.7% increase in population by 2020.
Note: The number of people in Breezy increases significantly during the summer tourism season. This includes seasonal cabin owners as well as visitors.
